A MONSOON OF POSITIVITY

A forthcoming series of oil paintings

Optimism is generally considered a virtue, particularly when expressed enthusiastically and without troubling anyone with the details.

There is something rather touching about our collective determination to make everything wonderful. Familiar objects, cheerful arrangements and gestures of goodwill offer reassurance that everything is going splendidly, even when the evidence is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The unreasonable becomes remarkably easy to accommodate when beautifully presented. Add a generous gesture, a reassuring smile and sufficient enthusiasm, and even the most questionable arrangement can begin to seem like a perfectly sensible idea. Refusing to participate would, of course, be terribly ungrateful.
